TITLE

Maintenance and Development of FIDES Reliability Methodology

MANAGER

The FIDES  Guide , global methodology of electronic reliability engineering includes two parts :

  • A previsionnal reliability evaluation guide,
  • A mastering and audit of the reliability process.

The FIDES guide objectives are on one hand to permit a realistic evaluation of electronic equipment reliability, including in systems with meet severe environments(defence systems, aeronautics, industrial electronics, transport,…) and on other hand to provide a concrete tool for building and mastering this reliability.

Its main characteristics are as follows:

  • Existence of models for electric, electronic, electromechanical components as well as  electronic cards, or some subassemblies ;
  • The emphasis and consideration of all technologic and physical factors having an identified role in reliability ;
  • Precise consideration of use profile;
  • Consideration of accidental overloads (electric, mechanical and thermal);
  • Consideration of failures due to development, production, operation and maintenance process ;
  • Possibility to distinguish several suppliers of a same component.

Through identification of reliability contributors, being technologic, physical, or process linked, FIDES guide allows to act upon definitions and all over the product life cycle to improve and master reliability.

OBJECTIVE AND  POSITIONING

The GTR objective is to ensure the FIDES methodology duration, over its maintenance and development.

The GTR FIDES creation is an opportunity for each IMdR member to participate to FIDES methodology development.

 GTR members, owing to their contributions (operational data, subscription to projects, participation to common various works,..) will be able to make the methodology progress.

For instance :

  • Providing complements on technologic families issued from Aeronautics, Automotive industry, Railways, Nuclear…
  • Adaptation of practices (contributors evaluation,…) Aeronautics, Automotive industry, Railways, Nuclear fields…

Among the identified actions , one can cite :

For methodology maintenance :

  • Make sure that methodology models be still viable,
  • Help methodology implementation,
  • Help initiation of training programmes.

For methodology development:

  • Propose new models for untreated  technologic families,
  • promote methodology at national and international level,
  • develop practical guides and complementary tools,
  • obtain national and international standardization of methodology and evolutions.
